John Coman RIP

The Late John Coman, Ballygammane & Coldfields 

It is with sadness that we announce the death of John Coman, Ballygammane and Coldfields. A member of the great sporting family the Comans of Coldfields, the late John played hurling with the Moycarkey-Borris club in all grades up to senior. He was selected on the Mid Tipperary senior hurling team for the Miller Shield inter divisional competition in 1957. A skilful and doughty forward, he played .half forward on the Two-Mile-Borris hurling team, winners of the Mid Tipperary No.2 junior hurling championship in 1957. A team that also included his brothers Paddy, the late Jimmy and some of his neighbours in Coldfields. Two other brothers, Joe and Justin later made their mark on parish hurling teams. Twenty years later he was a member of the Moycarkey-Borris team that won the last Mid Tipperary No. 2 junior hurling championship. A guard of honour will be held on Wednesday evening  to assemble outside Ulster Bank at 6 p.m.en route to Thurles Cathedral. Burial will take place on Thursday after 11 am Mass in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
