Moycarkey-Borris GAA Club Notes - August 8th 2011

Senior Hurling - On last Sunday evening week, we played Ballingarry in the quarter final of the O Riain cup, we came away with a win which will see us into the semi final. Well done to all involved.

Junior A Hurling - Saturday evening week gone we played Thurles Sarsfields in Littleton, where they emerged winners by 5 pts. The next fixture in this is Friday 12th August versus Boherlahan Dualla in Littleton @ 7.30pm. Best of luck to all.

Junior B Hurling - Last Saturday evening we bowed out of this competition to a strong Drom & Inch side, many thanks to the players & the selectors for their commitment.

Intermediate Football - Saturday evening next 13th we play Intermediate Football against JK Brackens in Littleton @ 6.30pm.All support appreciated.

Book Launch: Michael Lowry T.D., will launch “Hillside Views” by local writer, Jimmy Fogarty in Corcoran’s Lounge, Two-Mile-Borris on Saturday night 13th., August. The contents contains an amount of GAA material with profiles of famous club players and photographs old and new. The proceedings will commence with a wine & cheese reception at 9 p.m., followed by official launch at 10 p.m. Finger food will also be served. MC for the night is John Hackett.

Minor A Hurling - We play Holycross Ballycahill this wed 10th in Holycross @ 7.30pm. Your support would be appreciated.

Cul Camp 2011 - Last week saw another successful cul camp with over 185 children in attendance. Once again we were very lucky with the weather and the children enjoyed a fun filled week of hurling and football. We would like to thank everyone who helped out in any way ,our ladies for baking, our helpers, andy and all his 14 coaches our Tipperary hurlers Seamus Callahan and Padraic Maher our local heroes Niall o Sullivan,Michaela Graham and Marianne Murphy and also Barry o Brien who took time out to talk to the children. We would like to congratulate our skills winners who will go on to represent the parish at a later date. The winners are u8 Adam Costello,Cillian McDonagh,Enya Maher and Sarah Hayes u10 are Jack Morrissey,Louis Kearney,Clodagh Fallon and Emma Shelly and our u12s are Jack Fallon,Pj Tunstall,Cait Darmody and Maria Lanigan. Many, many thanks to Mary for her organisation wich wasnt easy with it being the largest camp ever, well done!

Congratulations - Firstly congrats and well done to Michaela Graham & Marianne Murphy who flew the flag for Moycarkey in the Tipp minor camogie team to take on Kilkenny in The All Ireland Final on Sunday week last, and done themselves, their family & the club so proud by coming out All Ireland Champions!! Secondly congratulations to Niall O Sullivan who also represented us in the All Ireland Quarter final of the minor football where they were victorious over Meath, and go nto Croke park. A position he held with great pride.
