Moycarkey Borris GAA Club Notes - 16th May 2016

Bereavement Support and Information Night
Moycarkey Borris GAA, Camogie & Ladies Football Club and Two Mile Borris/St. Kevin’s FC are hosting a Bereavement Support and Information Night on Monday, May 23rd in Muintir na Tire Hall, Littleton at 8.30pm. This is open to all adult members of the community who are over 18. Refreshments will be served on the night.


Senior Hurling
Moycarkey Borris will play Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams in the County Senior Hurling "Challenge Cup" on Friday, May 20th at 7.30pm in Dundrum. On Sunday, May 29th they will travel to Holycross to play JK Brackens in the Centenary Agri Mid Tipp Senior Hurling Championship at 3.30pm.


County Intermediate Hurling Championship
Clonoulty/Rossmore will have home advantage for Moycarkey Borris’s next game in the County Intermediate Hurling Championship which will be played on Tuesday May 24th at 7.30pm.


Mid Tipperary Junior Hurling League
Moycarkey Borris travelled to Drombane for the next round game in the Mid Tipperary Junior Hurling League on a fine summers evening on Saturday last. Moycarkey opened the scoring in the first minute but Upperchurch Drombane took over from there and added three unanswered points. Points were traded before Upperchurch raised the green flag to stretch the margin to five points. Upperchurch added three points to Moycarkey’s single point with Upperchurch now leading by 6 points after 15 minutes. Moycarkey hit a purple patch in the second quarter, scoring five points and a Ciaran Maher goal to Upperchurch’s two points, to go in at half time with the game equalised, Moycarkey Borris 1-9 Upperchurch Drombane 1-9.

Points were exchanged in the opening minutes and Upperchurch added their second point in the thirty third minute just before Upperchurch scored a goal. Tony Flanagan raised the green flag to keep Moycarkey in the game. Two more points from Upperchurch and a goal in the thirty ninth goal meant a margin of six points. Although the teams traded a further two points, a final three unanswered points from Upperchurch ensured the victory to them. Moycarkey will now play Boherlahan Dualla on Saturday, May 21st in Boherlahan at 7.30pm.

Under 16
Moycarkey-Borris and Durlas Óg contested the Tom Murphy Mid Tipperary Under 16 A Football Final on Monday last May 9th in Holycross. On a wet evening, the opening exchanges were tight as the sides shared the opening six points. Moycarkey eventually got in to their groove and had edged in front by 0-7 to 0-4 at the interval. The second half was barely underway when Kyle Shelly pounced for the game’s opening goal to double Moycarkey’s advantage. Despite the best efforts of Durlas Óg, Moycarkey stayed in front by six points or more during the remainder of the second half until Darren Flood scored Moycarkey’s second goal in injury time to cap off an impressive display for the boys wearing red and yellow – final score Moycarkey Borris 2-12 Durlas Og 0-9. Afterwards, Mid Tipperary Coiste na Nog Chairman Martin Bourke presented the cup, which was kindly sponsored by Tom Murphy to the Moycarkey-Borris full-back and captain Tom Ryan.

Paddy Maher R.I.P.
Moycarkey Borris GAA Club regret the passing of club member Paddy (Patrick) Maher. Paddy was a member of Moycarkey Borris Club and played from a young age where he and his teammates won the Under 12 B Mid Football and Under 12 B Hurling Mid and County Championship. In 2011 Paddy won the Mid Under 16 B Football and Hurling Championship, his most recent success was the Mid Tipperary Under 21 B Football Championship Final in March of this year. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this sad time.


County Board Draw
The Tipperary GAA County Board Draw is due to commence in the upcoming weeks. Renewal notices about the draw are being sent in the post over the approaching week. The club is encouraging all promoters to gather any outstanding monies so that the Draw for 2016/2017 will represent a new year. Thank you to all the members who support the County Board Draw and we look forward to your continued support.


Tipperary v Cork
There are a limited number of tickets available through the club for the Tipperary v Cork game which is due to be played on Sunday, May 22nd in Semple Stadium, Thurles. Anyone who would to purchase a ticket please contact John Hackett.


Camogie and Ladies Football Club
Membership is now due for all members and forms are available from Helen Dowling or your manager.


Junior Ladies Football Team
Commiserations to Moycarkey Borris Junior Ladies Football team who were overcome by Clonmel Commercials in the Tipperary Ladies Football Junior Championship Semi Final on Sunday last.

Under 12 Camogie
On Saturday last our under 12's played in a Munster Camogie Blitz in Semple Stadium. We played Millstreet from Cork, Killarney from Kerry and Ferrybank from Waterford; we won all three matches in the blitz and our team performed very well. The squad included - Rachel Ralph, Aimee Slattery, Clodagh Dunphy, Shauna Flanagan, Caoimhe O'Sullivan, Emma O'Sullivan, Ellen Maher, Sarah Sheridan, Alicia Carney, Kate O'Keeffe, Kate Ralph, Kaleigh Ryan, Ellen Cass, Lucy O'Keeffe, Rebecca Hogan, Michelle Flanagan, Aoibh Carroll, Molly O'Dwyer, Ellie Darmody, Amy Callanan and Grainne Stapleton


Under 10 Camogie
An Under 10 Go Game camogie blitz was held at The Ragg on Saturday, 14th May. Two Under 10 teams from Moycarkey travelled and each team got to play 3 matches. Well done to all the girls who took part.
