Féile na nGael
On Friday evening last Moycarkey Borris Under 14 Hurling and Camogie teams commenced their Feile competitions and welcomed their visiting clubs Cuchalainn Hurling Club (Armagh) and Castleblayney Camogie Club (Monaghan). The games commenced at 4pm with a win for the Hurling club against visitors Westport in Littleton. At 6pm the club travelled to Cashel where they met a stronger home side. Their third round game against the club they were hosting, Cuchalainn was vital to decide their position on the table and this was fixed for Saturday morning in Littleton. Although they were a goal short at half time Moycarkey Borris fought hard in the second half to win the game with a point to spare. They now had a Cup Quarter Final in Killenaule against Oranmore-Maree. Moycarkey played well during the first half and went in level but Oranmore-Maree proved to be a much stronger side in the second half and defeated Moycarkey Borris, concluding their competition.

The Camogie Club travelled to Golden for their Feile round games on Friday evening. Their opening game was against visiting club Bray Emmets who proved too strong for Moycarkey. Local club Rockwell Rovers were their second round game and Moycarkey’s defeat here meant that they could only compete in the Shield competition the following day. The third round game was to be decider as to where Moycarkey would play their Quarter Final with a choice of Kilcolman or Littleton. On Saturday morning in Littleton, Castleblayney and Moycarkey played a tough game with the result going in Moycarkey’s favour, they had earned themselves a Shield Quarter Final in Littleton. Westport Camogie Club were their opponents and were too strong for Moycarkey finishing their competition.

Both clubs left the competition at Quarter Final stages but they still had Saturday night to look forward too as the Club’s had organised a disco for all Moycarkey-Borris players along with our visiting clubs, their mentors and supporters in the Muintir Na Tire Hall. This night was well attended and with music by Tommy Healy, a great night was had by all. A special thanks to the Feile coordinators who did a fantastic job making the Feile experience great, Mary Shelly and Sharon Ralph. Well done to all the families who welcomed players and mentors into their homes. Thanks to all the players and mentors. For full results on the competition check out www.moycarkeyborris.com
