Laochra Ghael Award
Congratulations to Frank Gooney, Moycarkey Borris on receiving a Laochra Gael award. There is no doubt but Frank is a deserving recipient having given a lifetime of service in a variety of roles to the GAA at all levels. He was a committee member of both the Moycarkey Borris GAA Club and the Moycarkey A.C. for many years and he is currently President of the juvenile club. It was in the underage section that Frank made a big impact. He trained many juvenile teams to Mid and County successes. All young boys under his care will have memories of his dedication and the refreshments provided at the conclusion of games. He also made a huge contribution in preparing minor teams in the club. Frank was also a wonderful community man and his family were never found wanting when the good of the parish was at stake. Frank has travelled far and near over the years following our Gaelic Games for many of them in the company of his friend the late Dan Shaw. This wonderful Gael and loyal supporter of Scór is indeed a worthy recipient of the Laochra Gael award.
