Moycarkey Borris GAA Club Notes - 25th July 2016

Minor Hurling
Moycarkey-Borris were defeated by Holycross Ballycahill in the Mid Tipperary Minor A Hurling Championship on Wednesday last and will compete against Loughmore Castleiney this Thursday, July 28th at 7.30pm in Littleton.

Under 16
Congratulations to our Under 16 team who recorded two victories during the last week. They defeated JK Brackens on Monday last and on Friday last they defeated Durlas Óg in the Mid Tipperary Under 16 A Hurling Championship.

Under 12
Commiserations to our Under 12 Group 4 team who were defeated by Holycross Ballycahill in the Semi Final on Tuesday last. The team put in a strong performance with great heart. They were four points down at half time and in the end that was the difference, Holycross Ballycahill 1-7 Moycarkey Borris 1-3. The whole panel did themselves proud and the game was a super match contested by two good teams. There could have been more goals at either end but the Moycarkey goalie pulled off some super saves.

Senior Club Meeting
Moycarkey Borris GAA Club will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, July 28th at 9.00pm in the clubrooms.

Senior and Juvenile Club Membership 2016 – Notice of Closure
Club Membership is closing on the 30th of July 2016 and for the small number of persons (adult & juvenile) who have not paid their membership, they have until then to do so. Those who have not paid their membership by the deadline are not members of the club for 2016.

Camogie and Ladies Football Club
Tesco
Moycarkey Borris Camogie & Ladies Football Club have been selected as one of the sporting clubs in the Tesco Community Fund. Every time you shop in your local Tesco store in Thurles, you will receive a token of goodwill to place in the donation box of Moycarkey Borris. After six weeks, the number of tokens are counted and up to €1,000 is distributed proportionally between three local causes. The more tokens we enter the larger share of the donation we will receive. Please support.

Under 16 Camogie Summer League
Commiserations to Moycarkey Borris Under 16 team who were defeated by Ballingarry in the Tipperary Under 16 Camogie Summer League.
Moycarkey Borris team – Niamh Woodlock, Michealla McKelvey, Nicole Gleeson, Enya Maher, Claire Ryan, Aoife Walsh, Jessie Hayes, Tasha Tully, Kate Sheridan, Clodagh Fallon, Emma Dowling, Sophie Long and Emma Shelly.

Under 14 Ladies Football
Moycarkey Borris Under 14 team travelled to Galtee Rovers Ladies Football Club on Saturday, July 16th to take part in the Under 14 Tipperary Ladies Football Blitz. Moycarkey competed against St. Pat’s, Moyle Rovers and Fethard B in their round games, recording two wins to secure a place in the Semi Final against Cahir. This was a tough competitive game but Moycarkey came out the stronger to head to the Final. After a number of games back to back the tired legs of Moycarkey Borris featured in this game and the girls were narrowly defeated by a point.

On Wednesday evening last the Under 14 team travelled to Clerihan to compete in the Tipperary Ladies Football Under 14 Summer League where they met a stronger host club.

Under 10 Ladies Football
Moycarkey Borris Under 10’s travelled to Thurles on Monday evening with two teams giving very strong performances in ladies football against Thurles Sarsfields, Moyne/Templetuohy, Holycross Ballycahill, Slieve Felim Rapparees and Templemore. Teams: Ciara Corcoran, Bronagh Donnelly, Sophie Coughlan, Megan Kelly, Jane Corcoran, Aoife Shelly, Kate Dowling, Sarah Corcoran, Emma Corcoran, Ciara Shelly, Caitlin Shelly, Katie Lanigan, Grace Ryan, Lily Doherty, Laura Lanigan, Victoria Cantwell, Clodagh Maher, Mia O' Meara, Lucy Callanan, Lauren Maher, Caoimhe O'Gorman, Niamh O'Gorman, Caoimhe Fitzgibbon, Orla Hayes, Eimear Sheridan, Katelyn Flanagan, Cora Walsh, Aoife Maher. Under 10 Camogie Blitz
On Saturday morning last we travelled to the county Under 10 camogie blitz at the camogie grounds, The Ragg and both teams got to play competitive matches against teams from Borrisoleigh, Cahir, Ballybacon, Kildangan and Fethard. Thank you to Ciara Johnston for organising.
