Moycarkey Borris GAA Club Notes - 4th April 2016

Mid Tipperary Minor A Football Championship
The first game after the change in time for Moycarkey Borris saw the Minor team host Thurles Sarsfields in the Mid Tipperary Minor A Football Championship on Wednesday last in Littleton. Both teams started the game well and battled hard while keeping the scoreboard busy. Anthony McKelvey looked after Moycarkey’s point taking scoring four in total while Jack Hackett scored a hat trick of goals before the half time whistle to go in Moycarkey Borris 3-4 Thurles Sarsfields 1-7 at the interval.

The second half was a tighter affair and Thurles Sarsfields equalised as the game entered the final quarter, Moycarkey Borris 3-7 Thurles Sarsfields 2-10. The next point went to Thurles Sars and Moycarkey traded the point soon after. The final two scores of the game were Thurles Sarsfields ensuring their victory, Thurles Sarsfields 2-13 Moycarkey Borris 3-8

Roger Ryan Tournament
Well done to all the Moycarkey Club players; Shane Bourke, John Coffey, Brian O’Callaghan and Peter Melbourne who played in the Roger Ryan Tournament on Saturday last. They were mentored by Club Coach, Dermot Maher.


Feile na nGael
Moycarkey Borris are competing in the John West Feile na nGael in Division 3 Hurling in June. Their Group also, consists of Cashel King Cormacs, Mayo and Armagh. We will host the Armagh club representatives during this competition.


Under 16
Congratulations to Moycarkey Borris who overcame Moyne Templetuohy in the Mid U16A Football Championship and commiserations to Moycarkey Borris U16B team who were defeated by Drom Inch in the Mid U16B Football Championship on Monday, March 28th.


Under 12
Our Under 12 Group 4 footballer's built on their previous win when they played Clonakenny in a home fixture last Tuesday evening, March 29th. Moycarkey started strong and controlled much of the play in the first half with the halftime score 1-5 to no score. Clonakenny were stronger in the second half but the Moycarkey backs proved too strong, holding their opponents scoreless, final score 2-6 to 0-0.


Camogie and Ladies Football Club
Under 16’s
Commiserations to our Under 16 Camogie team who were defeated by Rockwell Rovers on Monday last, March 28th.

On the following Thursday, March 31st Moycarkey travelled to a stronger host, Ballingarry.

On Tuesday last Moycarkey Borris were defeated by Holycross Ballycahill in the Tipperary Ladies Football Under 16 Championship. This result meant an away game for Moycarkey in their following game on Sunday against Clonmel Og.
On Sunday, April 3rd Moycarkey travelled to Ned Hall Park, Clonmel to compete against Clonmel Og in the Quarter Final of the Tipperary Ladies Football Under 16 Championship. Moycarkey defeated Clonmel Og on a score line Moycarkey 3-7 Clonmel Og 3-2.

Feile na nGael
Moycarkey Borris are competing in the John West Feile na nGael in Division 4 Camogie in June. Their Group also, consists of Rockwell Rovers, Wicklow and Monaghan. We will host the Monaghan club representatives during this competition.
