It is with regret that we inform you of the passing of Sean Barry, Vice President of Moycarkey Borris GAA Club. Sean figured prominently with the club in both hurling and football and won a county junior hurling medal in the red and yellow singlet in 1954.

He also played senior with the club in subsequent years at a time when Thurles Sarsfields dominated the Mid Tipp scene.
Having finished playing he became actively involved in the administration side of things and at different times served as secretary and treasurer of the club. When Moycarkey-Borris captured the Dan Breen Cup in 1982, Sean was a selector. Sean was again involved in the same role when they captured the title in 1984 and was the only mentor involved in both victories.

Sean’s service to the GAA was honoured in 2010 when he received a Laochra Sean Gael award.

Sean will repose at his residence this Friday evening 4pm to 8pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday in St. Peter’s Church, Moycarkey at 11.30am followed by Burial in the adjoining Old Cemetery.

Moycarkey Borris GAA Club are organising a guard of honour on Saturday, assembling at the New Cemetery in Moycarkey village at 10:30am.

May He Rest In Peace.
