Gortnahoe-Glengoole 4-7 Moycarkey-Borris 1-3

Gortnahoe-Glengoole defeated Moycarkey-Borris by 4-7 to 1-3 in the Mid Junior B Football Championship Final played under lights in Littleton on Friday night. Moycarkey-Borris played with the wind in the first half and took an early two point lead. However, Gortnahoe-Glengoole got off the mark with a goal in the 6th minute, converting the chance when an attempted shot for a point rebounded off the post. Another goal followed in the 16th minute and by the interval, Gortnahoe-Glengoole led by 2-2 to 0-2. Gortnahoe added a goal within two minutes of the restart to take a commanding 9 point lead. Moycarkey-Borris earned a penalty in the 41st minute and though Anthony Kirby’s penalty shot hit the crossbar, Paudie Doran kicked in the rebound to leave 6 points between the sides heading in to the final quarter. Aided with the strong wind and rain, Gortnahoe-Glengoole now pushed on and added 1-4 without reply to run out deserving winners on a margin of 13 points.
