Drom And Inch 1-9 Moycarkey Borris 0-5
Report by Caitlin Donnelly
On a cold, damp Sunday morning Moycarkey Borris took on Drom And Inch in the Mid U21A Football Championship in the Ragg. Drom opened the game strong and scored four points without reply. Drom stayed on top and although they had eleven missed scoring chances in the first half they converted 1-6, Tommy Nolan with the goal. Moycarkey only managed to score 0-1 by JJ Darmody in the first half out of their five scoring chances.
As referee Tom McGrath threw in the ball to start the second half Moycarkey had it all to play for. Drom got the first score of the half and didn't score again for 17 minutes. During that scoring drought Moycarkey scored four points, two points from play from Niall Heffernan and two frees from Anthony McKelvey but that was all they managed to score in the half leaving the scoreline 1-8 to 0-5 with five minutes to go. Drom closed off their victory with a point in the 61st minute and that left the scoreline at Drom And Inch 1-9 Moycarkey Borris 0-5.
Moycarkey definitely improved their performance in the second half and Jack Hackett's ball winning ability and the strong defence of Patrick and James Whelan definitely assisted the side but it wasn't enough for them to secure a win or even draw close to level.
